The Battle of Lisbon of 1373 took place on 7 March 1373. a Castilian fleet led by Ambrosio Boccanegra defeated a Portuguese fleet at the coast of Lisbon. The victory contributed decisively to Castile's victory in the Second Ferdinand War and it resulted in the capture and sack of the city.

1814 — Battle of Craonne
The Battle of Craonne was fought on 7 March 1814 and resulted in a French victory under Napoleon I against Russians and Prussians under General Blücher. Craonne is a village on the Chemin des Dames, in the département of Aisne. Marshal Blücher had recovered from his earlier setbacks more quickly than Napoleon Bonaparte had hoped, and so the French Emperor was forced to switch his attacks from the Austrian Field Marshal Schwarzenberg back to the Prussian commander. Moving with speed and aggression, the French pushed the Allies over the Aisne river.

The Battle of Carmen de Patagones was a confrontation that occurred on March 7, 1827 between militias of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata and troops from the Imperial Brazilian Navy, during the course of the Cisplatine War. It took place around the town of Carmen de Patagones, in southern Buenos Aires Province, in today's Argentina.

1900 — Battle of Poplar Grove
Battle of Poplar Grove. was an incident on 7 March 1900 during the Second Boer War in South Africa. It followed on from the Relief of Kimberley as the British Army moved to take the Boer capital of Bloemfontein. The Boers were demoralised following the surrender of Piet Cronjé at the Battle of Paardeberg. General Sir John French's cavalry attacked the Boer force from the rear while mounted infantry and horse artillery attacked from the right flank. The Boers abandoned their positions in panic before the cavalry. The commander-in-chief of the Free State forces, Christiaan de Wet, in his book called the chapter on the subject "Wild Flight from Poplar Grove".

1921 — Kilfaul ambush
The Kilfaul ambush was an engagement in the Irish War of Independence. It was the first attack on the British army in Mayo during the War. On Monday 7 March 1921 a Crossley Tender of the 2nd Battalion Border Regiment set out from Ballinrobe towards Castlebar. There were two officers, 15 other ranks and a Royal Army Service Corps driver. They were experienced and well-trained.

Calwell received 42 votes to Reg Pollard's 30 in a caucus ballot. Future Prime Minister Gough Whitlam would defeat Eddie Ward to become Calwell's deputy.

The Singaporean by-election of 1967 was triggered by the final batch of mass resignations from Barisan Sosialis (BS)'s elected Members of Parliament who heeded to Lim Huan Boon's call on the grounds that Singapore's independence was "phony" because no discussion of Singapore's separation matter was made in the legislature. The final walkout of BS members were Koo Young, Ms Loh Miaw Gong, Ong Lian Teng, Poh Ber Liak and Tan Cheng Tong and translates into five vacant constituencies namely, Bukit Panjang, Havelock, Jalan Kayu, Tampines and Thomson. As a result, the by election was held on 7 March 1967 with the nomination day set on 24 February 1967.

Mayor Bob Carr, who was re-elected to his third term in 1964 died on January 29, 1967. Following Carr's death, City Commissioner George Barker served as Mayor Pro Tem until the vacancy was filled at a special election, and Barker declined to contest the election.

The result was a victory for the Bangladesh Awami League, who won 293 of the 300 seats, including eleven constituencies where they were elected unopposed without a vote. Voter turnout was 54.9%.

Ángel Aníbal Guevara, hand-picked successor of previous president Romeo Lucas García, was declared the winner of the presidential election and was scheduled to take office on 1 July. However, the election was widely denounced as fraudulent by elements on both sides of the political spectrum and an army-led coup d'état on 23 March instead installed the three-man junta of General Efraín Ríos Montt, General Horacio Maldonado Schaad, and Colonel Francisco Luis Gordillo Martínez. Voter turnout was 45.83% in the presidential election.

1987 — Northern Territory general election, 1987
A general election was held in the Northern Territory, Australia on Saturday 7 March 1987. Although the incumbent Country Liberal Party (CLP) won a majority under new leader Stephen Hatton, the party's vote was down almost 20 percentage points. At the 1987 election, the CLP faced a challenge from the Northern Territory Nationals, a rebel conservative party led by former CLP Chief Minister Ian Tuxworth that was aligned with then-Queensland Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen, but not affiliated with the federal National Party of Australia. The NT Nationals took 17.79% of the primary vote, mostly from the CLP, but finished with only one member in the assembly.

Parliamentary elections were held in the Federated States of Micronesia on 7 March 1989 alongside a referendum on electing a Constitutional Convention. All candidates for seats in Congress ran as independents. The referendum was held in compliance with article 2, section 9 of the constitution, which specified that there must be a referendum on convening a Constitutional Convention at least every ten years. It was approved by 71% of voters, and the Constitutional Convention election was subsequently held in 1990.

1991 — Ribble Valley by-election, 1991
The Ribble Valley by-election, in Lancashire, England, took place on 7 March 1991 following the elevation of United Kingdom MP David Waddington to the House of Lords. Michael Carr of the Liberal Democrats won election at his third attempt. The seat, based largely on the market town of Clitheroe, had previously been safely Conservative but at the time the controversial Margaret Thatcher's "Poll Tax" policy was used by opposition parties against the Conservative candidate. The tax was abolished soon afterwards by Thatcher's successor John Major, who had succeeded Thatcher on her resignation in November 1990.

On March 7, 1995 a mayoral election was held in Burlington, Vermont, United States. Progressive Coalition nominee Peter Clavelle, the former mayor who had lost reelection in the 1993 election, defeated incumbent Republican Mayor Peter Brownell, Democratic nominee Paul Lafayette, and other candidates. Brownell ended the Progressive's control over the mayoralty with his victory in the 1993 election, but during his tenure the Progressives gained control over the city council.

The programme of Mart Laar’s government was signed by Pro Patria Union, Reform Party, Moderates and People’s Party. The latter two merged soon after, so Mart Laar’s second government is widely known as Kolmikliit, or Tripartite coalition.

The Rey de Reyes 1999 (Spanish for "King of Kings") was the third annual Rey de Reyes professional wrestling tournament and show, produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA). The event took place on March 7, 1999 in the Toreo de Cuatro Caminos arena in Naucalpan, Mexico State, Mexico. The Rey de Reyes tournament consisted of a semi-final round of four four-man elimination matches and a final match with the winners of each of the semi-finals facing off in an elimination match until one man remained. The final of the 1999 Rey de Reyes tournament pitted Cibernético, Octagón, Latin Lover and Electroshock against each other.

On 7 March 2009, two off-duty British soldiers of the 38 Engineer Regiment were shot dead outside Massereene Barracks in Antrim, Northern Ireland. Two other soldiers and two civilian delivery men were also wounded. A dissident Irish republican paramilitary group, the Real IRA, claimed responsibility.
