346 — Conquest of Cheng-Han by Jin
The conquest of Cheng-Han by Jin, or the conquest of Han by Jin, was a military campaign launched by the Eastern Jin dynasty against the Cheng-Han dynasty from 10 December 346 to April 347 during the Sixteen Kingdoms period of China. The campaign, the first to be led by Huan Wen, concluded with the fall of Han and the reclamation of the Sichuan Basin by Jin.

1260 — First Battle of Homs
For other battles in the same area but in different years, see Battle of Homs. The first Battle of Homs was fought on December 10, 1260, between the Ilkhanates of Persia and the forces of Egypt, in Syria. After the historic Mamluk victory over the Ilkhanates at the Battle of Ain Jalut in September 1260, Hulagu Khan of the Ilkhanate had the Ayyubid Sultan of Damascus and other Ayyubid princes executed in revenge, thus effectively ending the dynasty in Syria. However, the defeat at Ain Jalut forced the Ilkhanate armies out of Syria and the Levant.

1825 — Cisplatine War
The Cisplatine War was an armed conflict fought in the 1820s between the Empire of Brazil and the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata over control of the Banda Oriental following its annexation by Brazil as the Cisplatina province. It was fought in the aftermath of the United Provinces' and Brazil's independence from Spain and Portugal, respectively, and resulted in the independence of Cisplatina as the Oriental State of Uruguay. In 1816, the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves carried out an invasion of the Banda Oriental and, after defeating the local resistance led by José Gervasio Artigas, annexed it under the name of Cisplatina. After Brazil's independence in 1822, Cisplatina remained as part of Brazil. Wishing to gain control of the region, the United Provinces sent a diplomatic mission to Brazil in 1823 to negotiate a peaceful Brazilian withdrawal, but it failed. In 1825, a group of patriots known as the Thirty-Three Orientals, supported by the Argentine government and led by Juan Antonio Lavalleja, launched a rebellion against Brazil. On 25 August of that year, in the Congress of Florida, they declared Cisplatina's independence from Brazil and its unification with the United Provinces. After a series of initial skirmishes, they defeated the Brazilians at the battles of Rincón and Sarandí, prompting the Argentine Congress to proclaim Cisplatina reintegrated into the United Provinces on 25 October. In response, Brazil declared war on the United Provinces on 10 December 1825 and imposed a naval blockade on the River Plate.

1857 — Belgian general election, 1857
General elections were held in Belgium on 10 December 1857, the first full general elections since 1848. The elections were called by royal order of 12 November 1857, dissolving the Chamber of Representatives that had convened in a new session only two days earlier. In the elections for the Chamber of Representatives the result was a victory for the Liberal Party, which won 70 of the 108 seats. Voter turnout was 79.3%, although only 90,543 people (2% of the country's population) were eligible to vote.

1877 — Siege of Plevna
The Siege of Plevna, or Siege of Pleven, was a major battle of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878, fought by the joint army of Russia and Romania against the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman defense held up the main Russian advance southwards into Bulgaria for five months, encouraging other great powers actively to support the Ottoman cause. Eventually, superior Russian and Romanian numbers forced the garrison to capitulate. The Russian-Romanian victory on 10 December 1877 was decisive for the outcome of the war and the Liberation of Bulgaria.

1899 — Battle of Stormberg
The Battle of Stormberg was a British assault on Stormberg Junction on 10 December 1899 during the Second Boer War. At that time, the Boers had taken control of Molten and the heights around Stormberg Junction, as part of their invasion of Cape Colony. William Forbes Gatacre, the general in command of troops in the Cape Midlands, decided to dislodge the Boers from their position in order to secure the railway lines which supplied the larger March on Kimberley by Lord Methuen.

Federal elections were held in Australia on 10 December 1949. All 121 seats in the House of Representatives, and 42 of the 60 seats in the Senate were up for election. The incumbent Australian Labor Party led by Prime Minister of Australia Ben Chifley was defeated by the opposition Liberal Party of Australia led by Robert Menzies with coalition partner the Country Party led by Arthur Fadden. Menzies broke new ground in using the radio as his primary method of reaching voters. The number of MPs in both houses had been increased at the election, and single transferable vote under a proportional voting system had been introduced in the Senate.

Federal elections were held in Australia on 10 December 1977. All 124 seats in the House of Representatives, and 34 of the 64 seats in the Senate, were up for election. The incumbent Liberal Party of Australia led by Malcolm Fraser with coalition partner the National Country Party led by Doug Anthony, in government since 1975, was elected to a second term over the Australian Labor Party Opposition led by Opposition Leader Gough Whitlam. While the Coalition suffered a five-seat swing, it still had a substantial 48-seat majority in the House.

The very first Iranian Assembly of Experts election was held on December 10, 1982 to elect all 82 members in 24 constituencies. 18,013,061 citizens voted in the elections, marking a 77.38% turnout. Out of 168 individuals registered to run, 146 (86.90%) were qualified allowed to do so. Held in two-round system, 76 seats were decided in the first round, as well as 7 in the second round. Experts winning the elections made decisive resolutions, including electing Hussein-Ali Montazeri as the first and only "Deputy Supreme Leader of Iran" (Persian: قائممقام رهبری) in May 1985, deposing him in November 1987, and electing the new Supreme Leader in June 1989.

A by-election was held in the federal electoral district of York North in Ontario on December 10, 1990, to fill a vacancy caused by a ruling by the Supreme Court of Ontario that annulled the 1988 election, unseating Liberal member of Parliament (MP) Maurizio Bevilacqua. Bevilacqua contested the by-election and gained back the seat with a comfortable margin more than two years after the initial election contest, while his principal rival in the original contest, Progressive Conservative Micheal O'Brien, came in a distant third.

A by-election was held in the federal riding of Beauséjour in New Brunswick on December 10, 1990, following the resignation of Liberal MP Fernand Robichaud. The by-election was held on the same day as another in York North in Ontario. The seat was held for the Liberals by Jean Chrétien who had been elected leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.

2000 — K-1 World Grand Prix 2000 Final
K-1 World Grand Prix 2000 Final was a kickboxing event promoted by the K-1 organization. It was the eighth K-1 Grand Prix final, involving eight of the world's top fighters, with all bouts fought under K-1 Rules (100 kg/156-220 lbs). The eight finalists were a mixture of invitees, some of whom had been at the previous year's final, or had qualified via preliminary tournaments (for more detail on this see bulleted list below). As well as tournament bouts there were also two 'Super Fights', one involving Japanese middleweight star Takayuki Kohiruimaki against Wilreid Montargne, fought under K-1 MAX Rules (70 kg/152 lbs), the other involving UFC legend Frank Shamrock against Elvis Sinosic in a kickboxing match fought under K-1 Rules.

2000 — Hong Kong Island by-election, 2000
The Hong Kong Island by-election, 2000 was held on 10 December 2000, when then Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong (DAB) vice-chairman Gary Cheng declined to accept his seat as a result of a scandal. Audrey Eu, who was then running as an independent backed by the pro-democracy camp won the by-election with 52.1% of valid vote. Cheng was subsequently jailed for abuse of office.

Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 (SO1145/OSL1145) was a scheduled Nigerian domestic passenger flight from Nigeria's capital of Abuja (ABV) to Port Harcourt (PHC). At approximately 14:08 local time (13:08 UTC) on 10 December 2005, it crash-landed at Port Harcourt International Airport. The aircraft, a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 with 110 people on board, slammed into the ground and burst into flames.

A special election for Massachusetts's 5th congressional district took place on December 10, 2013, due to the resignation of Democratic Congressman Ed Markey following his election to the United States Senate in a special election on June 25, 2013. Primary elections were held on October 15, in which Democratic State Senator Katherine Clark and Republican Frank Addivinola won their party nominations. State law required that Governor Deval Patrick call a special election between 145 and 160 days after the vacancy became official. On December 10, Clark easily defeated Addivinola with over 60% of the vote, holding the seat for the Democrats.

The Ostrava hospital shooting was a mass shooting that occurred on 10 December 2019 at the Ostrava University Hospital in Ostrava, Czech Republic. A total of seven people were killed in the attack, and two others were injured. The illegally armed perpetrator, 42-year-old Ctirad Vitásek, left the scene before the police arrived and committed suicide as police closed in on him later during the day.
