1594 — Battle of the Ford of the Biscuits
The Battle of the Ford of the Biscuits took place in County Fermanagh, Ireland on 7 August 1594 when a force of Irish Army soldiers led by Sir Henry Duke was ambushed and defeated by a rebel force under Hugh Maguire in the region of the fords of the Arney River on the approaches to Enniskillen. Duke's men were a relief column for the town which had been under siege since May. The battle acquired its distinctive name due to the supplies of the Crown forces, largely hard biscuits, which were scattered and left floating in the river.

1643 — Battle of Portlester
The Battle of Portlester took place on 7 August 1643 near the town of Portlester, Leinster in Ireland as part of the Irish Confederate Wars. It was fought between the Ulster Army under Owen Roe O'Neill and a largely Protestant government force from Dublin under Lord Moore, with both sides proclaiming their basic loyalty to Charles I. In a largely indecisive battle the two armies exchanged artillery fire, during which the Protestant commander Lord Moore was killed. His army withdrew handing the Irish Confederates a strategic victory.

The Battle of Gangut (Russian: Гангутское сражение; Finnish: Riilahden taistelu; Finland Swedish: Slaget vid Rilax; Swedish: Sjöslaget vid Hangö udd) took place on 27 JulyJul./ 7 August 1714Greg. during the Great Northern War (1700–1721), in the waters of Riilahti Bay, north of the Hanko Peninsula, near the site of the modern-day city of Hanko (Hangö), Finland, between the Swedish Navy and Imperial Russian Navy. It was the first important victory of the Russian fleet in its history. It is commemorated in Russia as one of the Days of Military Honour.

1856 — Battle of Tres Forcas
The Battle of Tres Forcas was a battle on 7 August 1856 between boat crews from the Prussian Navy corvette SMS Danzig (then on a foreign cruise, commanded by Prince Adalbert of Prussia) and the Riffians, a Moroccan tribe of Berbers. It occurred at Cape Tres Forcas and was one of the first examples of Prussian or German gunboat diplomacy. The Treaty of Paris of 1856 had decided that a Prussian warship should be deployed to the River Danube's outlet into the Black Sea and, on its way there, Prince Adalbert decided to explore the Rif coast of Morocco.

The Battle of Jajce was a military engagement between Austria-Hungary and Bosnian rebels supported by the Ottoman Empire that took place on August 7, 1878, as part of the Austro-Hungarian military campaign in Bosnia (Bosnia vilayet) in the for control of the strategic town of Jajce. This was one of the most extensive engagements of the entire campaign, in which the Austro-Hungarian Expeditionary Forces suffered more than six hundred casualties, the heaviest losses during one day of the entire campaign.

The Battle of Abu Hamed was part of the British Sudan Campaign of the 1890s. It took place on 7 August 1897 at Abu Hamed. Mahdist positions outside the town were taken by the a Sudanese brigade, supported by two guns from the Royal Artillery, under the command of Major General Archibald Hunter. The Mahdists were driven through the toewn, sustaining heavy losses, Mohammed Zain, their commander, being captured. Egyptian losses were 80 killed and wounded, including four British officers.

The Battle of Tulagi and Gavutu–Tanambogo was a land battle of the Pacific campaign of World War II, between the forces of the Imperial Japanese Navy and Allied (mainly United States (U.S.) Marine) ground forces. It took place from 7–9 August 1942 on the Solomon Islands, during the initial Allied landings in the Guadalcanal campaign. In the battle, U.S. Marines, under the overall command of U.S. Major General Alexander Vandegrift, successfully landed and captured the islands of Tulagi, Gavutu, and Tanambogo among which the Japanese Navy had constructed a naval and seaplane base.

The Clontibret invasion was an incursion by Ulster loyalists into the small Monaghan village of Clontibret, in the Republic of Ireland, on 7 August 1986. After crossing the border the loyalists proceeded to vandalize many buildings in the village and beat up two police officers before being dispersed by the Garda Síochána. The incident occurred in the context of unionist opposition to the recently signed Anglo-Irish Agreement.
